Adapting to Climate Change through Effective Water Governance in Ecuador [Equador]
Ecuador has its inherent vulnerability to changing climate due to its geographical location and rugged topography. Moreover, its key economic sectors, namely agriculture and hydro-energy sectors, are projected to be adversely affected in the coming future. The Adapting to Climate Change through Effective Water Governance in Ecuador project aims to increase the adaptive capacities of water resource management in the agriculture and the energy sector through sound water governance arrangements, information management and flexible financial mechanisms to promote local innovation towards sustainable water management.
  • Mainstreaming climate change risks into water governance structures at the national and sub-national level for improvement of systemic capacity.
  • Strengthening institutional capacity of the management of monitoring key resources and improving the use of climate information.
  • Demonstration of adaptation practices to climate change local planning and community actions.
  • Knowledge management and learning lessons.
